Major Update

Things have been slow but …
now they’re picking up!

It’s been awhile since we last updated you, but things have been slow until now. We’re well on our way with our Suicide Prevention Program and working on our Homeless-to-Home Program.

Over the past several months, we’ve had opportunity to expand on our mission of suicide prevention. We’ve held fishing trips to Lake Eufaula, Lake Murray, and the Kiamichi River. In total we have helped 20 Veterans relax, build new friendships, and catch some fish.

Since March of this year, we have answered nearly 1,500 crisis calls through our Crisis Services.

We have stopped five active suicides and got the Veterans help without them going to jail.

In May of this year, we drove to Ouji, CA to pick up three tiny home kits. We brought them back and were interviewed by Channels 4 and 25 of OKC. Since then, we have been working on raising the money to purchase the trailers and equipment needed to finish the tiny homes. We still need help with this mission.

On September 11th, we celebrated our first anniversary with A Day at the Lake at Lake Thunderbird. We fed over 50 Veterans and their families. We sent our excess food over to the Norman, OK Veterans Center where they fed their patients and first and second shift workers. They even had food leftover and sent it home with their staff to feed their families. This could not have been a more perfect showing of God’s amazing power and love for our military Veterans.

Meetings are held at the Norman Central Library https://goo.gl/maps/42HWqWqcp3w5aj2b7.

Time: 2pm to 4pm

Date: September 25, 2021 is our first meeting

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN:

We’ll be at various locations flying our US flag, military flags, and blue line and red line flags. We’ll be educating the community about our mission, getting new members, and seeking donations. We would like to expand this effort to multiple simultaneous locations.

THANKSGIVING MEAL:

We plan to feed 200 people, Veterans, First Responders, and their families, a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We’re currently looking for a church that will allow us to use their space for the meal. We estimate that 20 volunteers will be needed for this event. Date to be determined.

MARINE’S TOYS FOR TOTS:

We’ll be supporting the Marine’s Toys for Tots program. We hope to collect 200 toys for needy children.

FUNDRAISING DINNER:

We will be holding a fundraising dinner in November or December, depending on the keynote speaker we are able to get. More on this as time progresses.
